Bowel cancer is a cancer that can be prevented in many cases. That is because it often starts as a benign (non-cancerous) polyp in the bowel. If the polyp is removed via a simple telescope procedure, the cancer is prevented. But, if it turns cancerous, then surgery or other treatment is required.
Bowel cancer isn't that uncommon - affecting about 1 in 200 people age over 50. Unfortunately, it seems to be affecting more people at a younger age - possibly due to the processed, low-fibre diets that many of us eat, nowadays.
A qFIT test can help to detect polyps or early cancers.
